Safety is Romantic: Horoscopes June 15-21, 2026

I’m a huge lover (pun intended) of romance novels. I love a romantasy, a romantic mystery, a cozy romance, a witchy romance. Pretty much you throw romance into the story, and I’ll probably be into it.

Last year, a friend, who is a man, read a popular romantasy novel and told me he was surprised how few s*x scenes it had. My first thought was that romance novels are not really about s*x, although in some ways they are. “What are they about if not sex?” I wondered.

And the more I read, the more I realized they are about safety. They are about the dream of finding someone who values our safety over their own comfort.

Outside of romance novels, in reality, we must value our own safety over other people’s comfort before we expect others to do that. This week, the astrology reminds us that all the ways we express and dream of love are valid, and also healing and romance both start with listening to and meeting our own needs.

For horoscope principles this week, I am primarily looking at the following celestial events:

  • Venus in Leo sextiles Uranus in Gemini on Monday, June 15, 2026, at 3:52pm Pacific. This is an aspect supportive of change or happy surprise in relationship, romance, and beauty. Embrace your flair, whatever that means for you, and plan a spontaneous date (and never forget a date with yourself is just as special as a date with another person!).

  • Venus in Leo trines Neptune in Aries on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 8:40pm Pacific. Romantic ideals and the daily experience of supportive love are two different experiences, and both have value. This is an aspect that is supportive of indulging in the romantic ideals. Just remember to honor yourself first. How can you romanticize connection that has healthy boundaries?

  • Venus in Leo opposes Pluto in Aquarius on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 1:38pm Pacific. Obsession and love are two different experiences. Love honors yourself and the other person or people involved. Obsession seeks to connect, whether or not it is respectful. Under this aspect, we can be drawn to obsessive romanticizing. Be sure to check the reality of who your crush is and what is safe for them as well as you.

  • Chiron goes into Taurus on Friday, June 19, 2026, at 2:20pm Pacific. Chiron is an asteroid, but a very large one, and so he is often considered among the major planets. Chiron represents the space where we have been wounded and never quite heal, but we are able to use our wounding to heal others. He revolves around the Sun between Saturn and Uranus, and collectively this speaks to how hard it is for us to allow change. Chiron moving into Taurus shifts our collective emphasis from wounding around authenticity and courage to wounding around productivity and having needs.

  • The Sun goes into Cancer on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at 1:24am Pacific. This is also summer solstice, so happy solstice, witches! The summer solstice is the longest day of the year, which tends to be associated with being seen and visible. Cancer is energy of nurturing, loyalty, patriotism, and protecting the vulnerable. Cancer is a water sign, and the symbol is the crab, so it is energy of vulnerability, surrounded by a hard outer shell. This year, Cancer season asks us to decide what loyalty and patriotism means to us personally, and what best protects the most vulnerable.

  • The Sun in Cancer sextiles Chiron in Taurus on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at 2:47am Pacific. Right as the Sun goes into Cancer, we are asked to look at our deepest woundings around productivity and having needs. Where has capitalism taught you to subvert your needs to the system’s expectations? Where has capitalism taught you that your productivity is your value? This solstice gives you access to shifting and healing some of those wounds (or at least developing awareness over them).

  • Mercury and Jupiter continue in Cancer; Mars continues in Taurus; Saturn continues in Aries.

  • The sky forms a bowl shape this week, with Chiron as the focal planet, drawing in Scorpio energy. You may want to look at the Scorpio area of your chart and see if you feel any extra need in that house.

These are the principles to consider for the week of June 15, 2026. It is worth taking a look at both your rising and sun sign horoscopes (visit astro.com to find your rising sign):

Aries: Sometimes ugliness accentuates beauty, dissonance accentuates harmony. Other times, beauty stands alone, and absorbing it does not require contrast. Your creative projects and interactions with children are a space to draw in beauty, creativity, flexibility, and depth this week. Let your play be play without requiring it to follow rules or provide you money. And also, ask for what you need without requiring yourself to work for it.

Taurus: As the benevolent queen of your home and family life, it is important to treat yourself as one of your subjects, who has needs and preferences like everyone else. This week offers you opportunities to align your home with your shifting values, your spirit’s insight, and the transformation your career is undergoing. Remember that you are human and allowed to have your own needs in this process.

Gemini: The term “coven” is a relatively new term that is used to describe a small group of people gathering for ritual and magickal purposes. It is a trusted, close group. This week, consider who your closest coven is, whether the shakeup you are experiencing in how you show up in the world might reveal a new coven to you, and what boundaries you want to have around who you allow to be close and trusted. It is also worth considering what an ideal coven would look like to you, even if that is not what you have right now.

Cancer: One lie that I tend to associate with capitalism is that money has a relationship to good and evil. This looks like narratives that say either rich people are the hardworking inventors or rich people are the greedy oppressors. While there may be examples of both, this week consider money as one part of an abundant life. Consider how your inner child, boundaries in your career, and spiritual insight contribute to your abundant life.

Leo: We are often surprised to find out that celebrities, who seem to “have it all,” experience depression or other mental health stressors. We think that because they appear energetic and supported by fans, that describes their entire life. You, like other celebrities, are more than one thing at a time. This week, beauty visits how you appear to the outside world, but inside might feel more moody. It is okay to be both. Acknowledging that you have needs, even in your most public-facing life, is healthy.

Virgo: What we repress, especially when it comes to feelings, re-emerges at the most inopportune times. This week asks you to look at how you partner with yourself when you are alone. If you were to evaluate the way you treat yourself like you evaluate your romantic partners, consider what needs to change in your career and daily habits to make yourself an ideal partner to yourself.

Libra: Shakespeare tells us, in admittedly a rather gloomy way, that “all the world’s a stage.” This week, the cosmos offers you that message, but in a way that asks you to shine. If you were the queen of your social groups and ruled an ideal kingdom, imagine the boundaries that would require you to have in your partnerships and the creative transformation it would ask of you. Honor your spiritual needs as you start to manifest this social queendom.

Scorpio: Most of us believe that other people are like us, and we attribute our motivation to their behavior. We over-give, expecting others will give back; we over-take, expecting others will also look out for themselves. This week, the wounding you have around having needs in your partnerships is invited to start a process of painful healing. You may appear to have it all together, and in some ways you do. And, you are still allowed to share your needs with those closest to you.

Sagittarius: Ideals without action are often a form of self-harm. When we have a vision of how things “should” be, that are not how things are, it seems like it will motivate us to make a change, but usually it generates criticism of ourselves and others. This week, allow yourself to indulge in romantic ideals, and also honor that your body has needs and your health is an important part of being human.

Capricorn: Social safety net is the term used for the resources we, as a community, are willing to provide every human. This week, romanticize about learning of a long-lost relative whose death surprises you with millions of dollars (so mote it be), and also consider the practical boundaries you have with your family and the changes you would need to make in your daily routine to welcome abundant wealth into your life. Rather than relying on the romance, allow the transformation that needs to happen to create this for yourself, even if it is painful and vulnerable.

Aquarius: Most of us were taught or modeled that we should pursue cis, straight marriage, have children and then be quiet. A huge amount of stories romanticize this goal as being the solution to life’s problems, especially for women, but also for other genders. This week, allow yourself to romanticize about partnership, and also turn it into something creative external from you (art, stories, food, etc.), rather than obsessing. The perfect partner will not meet all of your needs, but if you try and get creative, you will be able to meet your own needs.

Pisces: Capitalism tells us that rich and skinny equals superior. This week, you might feel seduced into idealizing or romanticizing “perfect” health (whatever that means) or magazine bodies. If that happens, try to show yourself the beauty of the opposite (find fat beauty and abundance outside of money), not just on social media, but also in your family. Emaciated bodies can’t fight capitalism, but nourished ones can. In order to unlearn the harmful programming of starvation, show your brain alternatives, rather than obsessing about fixing yourself.
