Good is Better Than Done: Horoscopes July 6-12, 2026
My first assistant as a lawyer was a woman who had 30 years more experience than me and had previously worked for people who became very influential judges in my community. She was a perfectionist to say the least, and I found myself saying to her, “Done is better than good!” when we needed to move projects alone even if they were not perfect.
This week, I find myself giving the opposite advice. This week, good is better than done. As Mercury is still retrograde, Jupiter approaches an opposition with Pluto that creates a t-square to Chiron, asking us to look at how overwork relates to our wounding around having personal needs. Along with the other transits below, this asks us to slow down and look at how we overdo, hoping to get our needs met that way.
More isn’t necessarily better. Creating a lot, hoarding a lot, working a lot, thinking a lot does not make things better. This week, use your analytical, critical thinking skills to evaluate how you honor your needs and create authentic structure to nurture yourself. Use your structured and analytical side to form a foundation for your future, and question any instinct to pressure yourself to overdo with the hopes it will time travel you to that future. Overdoing just ruins the present.

For horoscope principles this week, I am primarily looking at the following celestial events:
The Sun in Cancer squares Saturn in Aries on Monday, July 6, 2026, at 3:46pm Pacific. This is a moment where you have the opportunity to notice the results you have created since the Summer Solstice, when the Sun went into Cancer. Mercury has been retrograde and the Mars/Uranus conjunction just went exact over the holiday weekend. Take stock of how you have been able to handle frustration, annoyance, urgency, and conflict. What structures and rules do you have in place to make sure your life nurtures you?
Neptune goes retrograde in Aries on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 3:54pm Pacific. Outer planets are often retrograde, and they do not have the same impact, in my experience as inner planets going retrograde. However, this is a good time to look at your Cardinal planets in early degrees because they might be getting a hard revisit from Neptune’s influence, which can include tiredness, anxiety, and the need to push pause and go slow. A transit from Neptune can also bring connection to our spirits and intuition.
Venus goes into Virgo on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 10:22am Pacific. Venus, the planet of beauty, has been in Leo, the space in the sky where she is flashy, showy, deserves to be the center of attention, and puts on a show. She is moving into the more analytical, particular, and grounded space of Virgo. This can feel more secure, but it can also be an experience where we have to clean up after the party.
Venus in Virgo trines Chiron in Taurus on July 9, 2026, at 11:17pm Pacific. Right as Venus goes into Virgo, she connects in a supportive way with our wounding around having needs. Often when we are partying and having fun, as Venus does in Leo, there is a performance involved that is not bad, but does not acknowledge our deeper needs. Venus in Virgo asks us to acknowledge we have needs and meet them.
The moon is void of course from Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 3:11pm Pacific until Sunday, July 12, 2026, at 3:46pm Pacific. This is a more than 24 hour period, where the moon is not making any aspect before it goes from Gemini to Cancer. I love to follow the moon cycles, but I do not include them in horoscopes because the moon moves so quickly. When the moon is void for more than 24 hours, though, it is significant. This is a time to avoid initiating anything, unless it is something that you want to have fly under the radar and not make significant impact.
The Sun in Cancer goes conjunct Mercury retrograde in Cancer on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at 6:25pm Pacific. This is called a Mercury cazimi and usually happens twice during a Mercury retrograde. This is a moment to evaluate your retrograde experience and see what is coming up for you. Where are you seeing mistakes, misunderstandings, redos, revisitings? Listen to what your body and your intuition are telling you about the lessons from these experiences.
Uranus and Mars continue in Gemini; Pluto continues in Aquarius.
These are the principles to consider for the week of July 6, 2026. It is worth taking a look at both your rising and sun sign horoscopes (visit astro.com to find your rising sign):
Aries: Even the most extroverted person needs alone time sometimes. Many of us set up unconscious rules where we are only allowed to rest if we are sick, depressed, or in crisis. That leads to a downward spiral, where we have to stay in unhealthy situations in order to earn rest. Right now, you might feel frustrated with your closest community and siblings, and that is a signal to check in with your rest. Give yourself more nap time than you think you need, and you’ll be better able to use your energy to create needed change in your community rather than using it against yourself.
Taurus: It is vulnerable to admit we have needs, and so many of us spend a lot of energy meeting other people’s needs instead of acknowledging our own. This week presents an opportunity to use your creative abilities to honor your own needs. This might look like a letter to your inner child, a painting or vision board that honors what you need most, a spreadsheet and flowchart organizing your needs, a calendar system for honoring your needs, or whatever other creative option strikes you. Your money situation doesn’t need to change in order for you to honor your needs.
Gemini: Rules and boundaries do not have to be rigid in order to be effective. You are in a period of time where you are experiencing massive changes in how you understand yourself and show yourself to the world, and that requires an adjustment to your rules of engagement. Make an art project that represents what you value most deeply and consider the adjustments you could make to the boundaries and rules you use in your social group to honor and nurture what you value most.
Cancer: Sensitivities are alerts about certain substances or experiences. When we want people to be compliant with toxic behavior or tolerant of toxic substances, we teach them that sensitivities are bad. This week, check in with the information your sensitivities are giving you. Put into place structure (usually this means rules and boundaries) in your career that would better support those sensitivities. If you find yourself engaging in mental debates about what your boundaries should be, check in with your body and ground your rules and boundaries in your sensitivities.
Leo: There are some things that you are not supposed to figure out or solve and one of them is how to be high vibes all the time. Only AI is universally high vibe, and that’s one of the creepy things about AI. If you have wounds around being a support for everyone around you at work, but not having your needs met in return, look at your inclination to overwhelm yourself to solve this. Overwork will not meet your needs, but acknowledging them and getting clear about what you truly value is more likely to help your needs get met.
Virgo: The amount of influence we have on other people has more to do with how much we listen to them than how much we explain about ourselves. If you feel frustrated or agitated at work and misunderstood in your friend and social groups, allow those feelings to be present, and also check in with how much you are listening. If you are offering scrutiny instead of support, it will be difficult for people to receive your sage analysis.
Libra: Pardon me while I cheese it up, but you can’t have a healthy partnership with another person unless you have a healthy, intimate partnership with yourself, including your most judgmental parts. While the boundaries you have with your partners about your career is not the only connection between your self-partnership and your partnership with others, this week you have a chance to re-evaluate that facet. Honor your analytical side and meet your own needs first.
Scorpio: When we overwork and overthink, we often do it because we think it will solve problems, though unfortunately it often usually problems on top of other problems. To be most effective this week, rather than creating more problems through overwork, check in with what you love most about your friend and social groups. If you can define what works best in that space, you can translate it to overall rules and boundaries you can use, especially when it comes to having your needs met in your partnerships and habits.
Sagittarius: Alignment means that our bodies, minds, emotions, and spirits are working together, even if they are offering different information. It is easy to get so focused on higher ideals, reason, or intelligence that we forget that our bodies are an important component of our human experience. If your expectations of yourself require you to ignore your body’s needs, it’s time to reevaluate that. Slow down and care for yourself if you want to be more effective.
Capricorn: More isn’t always better. If you have more garbage, you have more work to do to take out the trash. There is a difference between accumulation and wealth hoarding, which is what we see with the billionaire class, and abundance. If you want to be understood in your partnerships, this week offers you the opportunity to evaluate how authentic you are being. The more authentic you are about what is correct for you, the more you will be able to handle misunderstandings in partnership.
Aquarius: Too much of a good thing is still too much. You are entering a period of time where your partnerships and your personal transformation can create a sense of overwhelm. You are better served this week using your critical analysis skills to determine the needs you have in your personal life than allowing your partnerships to take over your life.
Pisces: In order to change our lives, the small changes we make to our daily experiences make as much difference as the major revelations we have. This week gives you the opportunity to evaluate the rules and boundaries you have around money and what you value and how this impacts your creative projects and children. If you try to get your needs met through the habits you have always had, you will get the same results. Use your analytical skills to decide what you need to shift to get results that are more aligned with what you deeply need.
