Cosmic Pentacle: Horoscopes July 13-19, 2026
A pentacle is a symbol of protection and prosperity. It is a five pointed star with a circle around it.
If you work with tarot, you will be familiar with it because an entire suit of the cards is called Pentacles. That suit is associated with the element of earth, which is also associated with the astrological signs Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn.
The lore says that a pentacle is at least in part associated with prosperity because when you cut open an apple core horizontally, the seeds and the shape of the core form a pentacle. Although apples have been associated in with evil in capitalistic mythology, that was not always the case. The pentacle’s relationship with the apple asks us to remember that nature provides enough, though the extraction principles of capitalism create scarcity.
As this applies to astrology, the cosmos creates a giant pentacle in the sky this week in a cosmological event that is unbelievably rare. If you want to learn more about interpretations related to this, it is called Barbault’s Basket in the astrological research. This is because an accomplished French astrologer, who made very accurate predictions in the 20th Century doing the math by hand (props!), cited this configuration as significant for ushering in a new era of consciousness. I respect the prediction, but I think if we are going to usher in a new era of consciousness, part of that needs to be that we stop naming natural and cosmological events after men who talk about them (no offense specifically to Barbault). I’m choosing to call this the Cosmic Pentacle.
Most configurations like this, which only involve outer planets, especially in supportive aspects, are not configurations we feel immediately, but instead are ones we look back on later as significant. (For example, as the configuration that initiated Covid into the world happened, most of us did not feel the impacts for a few months. This aspect is supportive, while that was restrictive, overwhelming, and transformative.) This week, you are more likely to feel the New Moon, the Mercury retrograde, and Venus’s aspects than you are to feel the outer planet alignment. But, this week is a good time to initiate a new way of being.
This week, focus on what you do want to create, bring into the world, birth, or initiate. Cast your spell for a new way to nurture the collective. Notice where you are resisting old forms of being, rather than embracing new forms of being. For example, if you tell someone to “stop running” (resisting the old form) there is neurological and behavioral research saying that they will hear “running.” Instead, if you say, “Please walk,” they are more likely to do what you ask. If you model walking in stead of running, they are even more likely to do the same. In the same way, consider how you, personally and individually, show up to support your community blossoming into what you want it to be. Call in the cosmic pentacle to protect you in this process and bring prosperity to it.

For horoscope principles this week, I am primarily looking at the following celestial events:
Venus in Virgo squares Uranus in Gemini on Monday, July 13, 2026, at 7:26am Pacific. Both Virgo and Gemini are influences that are good at seeing different perspectives and component parts. As this transit happens, consider the component parts that make you unique in your relationships. You are not just one way of being, so consider even seemingly contradictory parts.
The New Moon in Cancer happens on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 2:43am Pacific. I consider this transit the initiation of the aspect pattern that is commonly called Barbault’s Basket. Even though this New Moon is not technically part of that aspect pattern, it is a significant initiation point, which we are likely to feel more significantly than the aspect pattern. A New Moon in Cancer is a time when how we collectively show up and how we see security is nurturing and loyal. Barbault’s basket is a supportive pattern for redefining what that means.
Uranus in Gemini sextiles Neptune in Aries on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 1:35pm Pacific. This aspect aligns the shifts we are making collectively in integrating different perspectives with how we see authenticity. It is possible to be authentic, courageous, and open to conflicting viewpoints. Where we struggle with that is a space we have support to change right now.
Uranus in Gemini trines Pluto in Aquarius on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 9:43pm Pacific. This aspect supports integrating multiple perspectives and major change into the collective transformation that is available to us.
Mars in Gemini sextiles Saturn in Aries on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at 11:10am Pacific. This aspect brings practical action to the center of the transformation happening. Initiate tangible action toward the structural foundations of the new collective you want to see.
The Sun and Mercury continue in Cancer. Mercury is still retrograde.
vThese are the principles to consider for the week of July 13, 2026. It is worth taking a look at both your rising and sun sign horoscopes (visit astro.com to find your rising sign):
Aries: Conflict on the internet is something that many people take incredibly personally, leading to backlash about “cancel culture.” Most of the ramifications of “cancel culture” are caused by the person being “canceled” choosing defensiveness over curiosity. This week may bring out some fights or bickering for you (bonus points if it’s on the internet). And, in the midst of that, notice the nurturing home spaces you have created. Cast a spell to pull that nurturing energy around you whether conflict exists or not.
Taurus: When we see all perspectives, we lose all perspective. Perspective is unique and your perspective is yours, even if other people disagree, and even if those disagreements are valid. This week, consider how your creative projects align with your values. Your money and values are in a period of change, and that means you can release what is not aligned for you. Consider what feels nurturing to you in your closest community, and that might give you insight into what you value most. Release creative projects that are not aligned with your values and honor ones that are.
Gemini: Money is energy all around us, like water. Many of us want more money, or more fairness around money, but we also hang onto fear of it or aversion to it. This week, consider your relationship with money as though money was your friend. If you gave a friend as much attention as you give money, consider whether they would stay friends with you. This New Moon is a chance to cast a spell calling in money as a source of nurture and comfort.
Cancer: When birds make a nest, they take little (or big) twigs, and carefully stack them and other fun materials, all the while turning around in a circle to snuggle into it. As you consider new foundations and boundaries in your career and public facing life and have fast changes in your thinking, this is like generating a new nest for yourself. Make sure you are treating these changes as a nest that is meant to incubate you. Release any inclination to bring punishment into your nest because that would not serve the new self you are incubating.
Leo: Defensiveness often comes up when we are self-identified with a topic or behavior that someone else questions. If I say, “You have exposed electrical wiring,” and you become defensive, we know you don’t want to fix the electrical wiring, and that may become dangerous. This week, notice what harmful cultural messages you might be protecting unconsciously because it feels to sensitive to see they are harmful. Especially, pay attention to the harmful messages about yourself. Healing a wound can mean experiencing the pain of the wound first. Commit to speaking to yourself in kind and nurturing ways.
Virgo: Dr. Maya Angelou said, “People will forget what you said. People will forget what you did. But people will never forget how you made them feel.” During this Mercury Retrograde, that message is one to remember. Look to how it feels to be nurtured and experience loyalty in your social groups, and intentionally start a new cycle of honoring that. Incorporate that feeling into the changes you are experiencing in your career, even as you allow discomfort of change.
Libra: Casting spells is most effective when you focus on shifting your experience and release anyone else’s. For example, it gets better results to cast a spell for a career that has particular qualities than for a particular job. This week, cast a spell for the qualities you want your career and public-facing life to have. Make sure you include how it nurtures you and meets your needs first, before any other loyalties come into the spell.
Scorpio: Thinking about billionaires becomes extra bizarre if you substitute collecting money for any other substance. “Oh, yeah, Jeff Bezos collects beanie babies. He has a few billion,” is a cause for mental health concern, not envy. “Taylor Swift’s tour is so popular that she’s collected a couple of billion gallons of water.” No. It’s weird. This week gives you the opportunity to change how you encounter other people’s money and resource hoarding and be direct about what you need, even if you can understand their perspective.
Sagittarius: People who travel to other countries and live there for a length of time often have a different philosophical understanding of security than those who stay in the same place. Based on race, we used to label these people as “ex pats” or “immigrants” to signify hierarchy. This week, consider how other people’s values influence your philosophy of how secure you are around change. Specifically, if partnerships do not have to maintain status quo for you to be secure, consider how you would see the world differently. Learn from how other cultures view partnership.
Capricorn: We can learn more about what we value by studying how we spend our time than imagining what perfect values might be. Similarly, we can learn a lot about how we partner by looking at how we care for ourselves. This week is a good opportunity to cast a spell for developing a nurturing and trustworthy partnership with yourself. Your understanding of what you value is transforming, and showing up authentically in your most private spaces (with yourself) is a supportive part of that.
Aquarius: Humanity has evolved with strong fear signals that are meant to protect us from threats, but also make it hard for us to hear information outside of what is familiar to us. Communicating in simple language is often more effective than nuance because of this fear experience. This week, consider how you can integrate the transformations you are experiencing into a simple sentence (or 3-5 words) that represent who you are becoming. Turn that into a creative project that engages your body.
Pisces: Overwhelm and procrastination often have somewhat similar mechanisms because they are systems to back us into a corner until the fear of the corner is more intense than the fear of taking action. This week, you have an intense amount of creativity available to you, and you may feel backed into a corner enough to use it. If you start to overthink, stop and use your energy to create something that is supposed to be ugly and messy and real. Cast a spell to initiate a new cycle of creative projects.
